Aggressive During Nail Trims? See Noodle’s Transformation

Noodle came to Perfected Canine Obedience for daycare and training after his owners struggled with aggressive behavior during nail trims. What should have been a routine grooming task had become a stressful and risky situation, with biting and resistance each time his nails needed attention.

This is a common issue we see with dogs who have had negative grooming experiences or who simply haven’t been properly conditioned to handling. Instead of forcing the process, we focused on building Noodle’s confidence and changing his emotional response to nail trims.

Our Approach

During his daycare and training program, we worked on:

  • Positive handling exercises
  • Desensitization to paw touching and tools
  • Confidence-building routines
  • Structured obedience and impulse control

Each step was taken at a pace Noodle could handle, ensuring he stayed relaxed and successful throughout the process.

The Result

After a few months of consistent training, Noodle reached a huge milestone. This week, his nails were trimmed with little to no restraint and zero biting.

What was once a stressful situation is now calm, controlled, and safe for everyone involved.

What This Means for Dog Owners

Behavior issues during grooming are very fixable with the right structure, patience, and training plan. Whether your dog struggles with nail trims, vet visits, reactivity, or aggression, consistent training can make a major difference.

If you’re dealing with similar issues, we’d love to help.
