From Leash Reactivity to Socialization

Leash reactivity can be challenging for both dogs and their owners. A dog may bark, lunge, pull, or become overly excited when seeing another dog while on leash.

For Jack and Jimmie, this was something we needed to work through while also building their obedience and confidence.

Through consistent training and structured opportunities to interact with other dogs, they learned that being around other dogs didn’t have to mean reacting negatively.

Today, Jack and Jimmie are able to play and socialize regularly with other dogs while participating in our daycare environment.

That’s a huge change from where they started.

While improving their social behavior was an important part of their training, Jack and Jimmie also worked on several fundamental obedience commands.

We’ve Been Working With Jack & Jimmie for Years

One of the things that makes Jack and Jimmie’s story especially meaningful is that this isn’t our first experience with them.

Approximately two years ago, Jack and Jimmie came to us for potty training.

Since then, we’ve continued working with them and have had the opportunity to watch their development over time.

Seeing dogs continue to grow after their initial training is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Their journey is a great reminder that dog training isn’t necessarily a one-time event. Continued practice, consistency, structure, and appropriate social experiences can all play an important role in maintaining and building on a dog’s training.

Dog Daycare With Training

Our daycare + training option gives dogs the opportunity to work on obedience while also experiencing a structured environment around other dogs.

For dogs that struggle with socialization or leash reactivity, controlled exposure and appropriate interactions can be an important part of their training.

The goal isn’t simply to put a reactive dog around other dogs and hope for the best. Instead, we want to help dogs learn appropriate behaviors and give them opportunities to practice those behaviors consistently.
